Description
Aberfeldy 16 years Single Malt
The Aberfeldy 16 years single malt belongs to the traditional standard range of the distillery Aberfeldy and convinces with a full, round and delicate spicy taste. A special feature of the Aberfeldy distillery is its special spring water from the “Pitilie Burn”, which is known for its purity and – believe it or not – its gold content. This has also been the inspiration for the bright gold letters on the design of the Aberfeldy label.
With this special water and good Scottish barley a rich whisky is produced in a 70-hour fermentation. The burning process takes place in copper stills, which have been handcrafted by a Scottish family business according to an ancient tradition for more than a century.
Where does it come from?
Aberfeldy is located in the lovely area of Perthshire in the Scottish Highlands in front of the little town Aberfeldy on the River Tay. It is one of the oldest distilleries in Perthshire and is known for its sweet and mild whiskies. The distillery was founded in 1898 by the Dewar family. After various changes of ownership and it is owned by Bacardi since 1998. Under their flag, Bacardi made some investments in the distillery and expanded the product portfolio with some remarkably interesting bottlings.
Aberfeldy whiskies generally are known for their unique honey notes. There is a wide range of single malts available today, from a 12 year old to a very successful 21 year old single malt.
How does it taste?
The 16-year-old brother is a very expressive drop that offers to the palate a wide variety of flavors. It convinces with a mild and sweet start, a balanced mixture of notes of raisins, caramel, cinnamon, herbs, a hint of green apple and a freshly mown hay meadow. This is followed by aromas of juicy orange notes, which melt on the tongue into dark chocolate and butterscotch with a hint of liquorice. Even after the short but spicy finish, the hint of chocolate lags behind delicate wood notes. The right sip for a sunny moment on the terrace.

Mr. Whisky –
Schon in der Nase recht komplex, auf der Zunge geht er dann richtig auf. Sanfter, komplexer Whisky, tolles Eichenaroma, was ganz Besonderes.
Vielleicht Macadamia. Für Whiskykenner einfach ein toller Whisky. Am besten Ohne Eis genießen.
