Description
Bowmore Tempest Single Malt
The Bowmore Tempest Single Malt is dedicated to a “thunderstorm”. It’s up to you to find out if this would be the storm that the distillery located directly on the seaside has to face, or even the “thunderstorm” of flavors in the glass. In fact, the Bowmore Tempest is full of life and expressiveness. This “non-chill-filtered” single malt is bottled with cask strength, which decreases slightly with each annual batch, but is still over 50%. Therefore, adding some drops of fresh spring water can probably help developing the aromas.
Batch 5 has an alcohol content of 55.9%. Its bright golden color is beautifully underlined by the sea blue cover box with the motives of storm waves.
The Bowmore Tempest matured for 10 years in ex-Bourbon barrels made from American white oak and is a single malt with a assigned age. It is only bottled as a small batch release, limited to around 12,000 bottles per year.
How does it taste?
The Bowmore Tempest Single Malt combines spicy aromas of pepper, cinnamon and cloves with sweet vanilla and honey notes from the white oak barrels, accompanied by a stunning aroma of grated lemon zest and pineapple and the typical mineral scent of the sea, which is typical for Bowmore. A storm of flavors – perfect fit to the atmosphere of a dark winter evening, an autumn walk by the sea or just the start into an energetic night!
Where does he comes from?
Bowmore has been the first licensed distillery on the island of Islay, known for its highly peaty whiskies, since 1779. The famous warehouse Vault No. 1 is partially below sea level and thus achieves a special climate that gives the barrels an additional maritime note during maturation. The production of high quality Scotch is carried out at Bowmore with dedication according to old tradition and with patience and perfectionism. A number of exceptional and very successful single malts have been presented to the market during the years.
