Description
Auchentoshan Three Wood Single Malt
Auchentoshan Three Wood Single Malt is a wonderfully balanced whisky from the Scottish Lowlands, the area north of Glasgow, between the Kilpatrick Hills and River Clyde.
Gently kilned, completely non-peated barley lets the Auchentoshan taste shine through. The barley is grinded carefully. It’s vital to have evenly milled starch grits, maximizing the amount of starch that transforms into sugars during mashing. The result is a fresh-tasting, clear wort from the lauter tun, that is the basis for the fine Auchentoshan Whiskies. Unique to Scotland, Auchentoshan distills its Whiskys triple since 1823. During this process, the alcohol content increases from 8% to 81%. As a result, unwanted flavors are eliminated and the fruity and citrus notes, and later also the wooden aroma of the oak barrels come for better retribution.
But the multi-award winning Auchentoshan Three Wood Single Malt got his name after the final finishing process in three different wooden barrels. It first matured for 10 years in American ex-Bourbon barrels, then in 18 month in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, and finally almost another year in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. This makes it a special dram for lovers of non-smoky whiskies which receive their aromas exclusively from the combination of different barrel types during the maturing process. Finally the Auchentoshan Three Wood is bottled at a strength of 43%. It is a creation of a wonderful light and gentle scotch, yet full of character and finesse, which looks already back on several awards:
San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2013: Double-Gold
International Wine & Spirit Competition 2014: Silver
International Spirits Challenge 2014: Silver

Mr. Whisky –
Geschmack: Mild. Sherry und eine dezente, angenehme Süße.
Weicher Abgang.
