Description
Aberlour 18 years Single Malt
The Aberlour 18 years Single Malt is one of Aberlour’s outstanding creations. Aberlour distillery produces in the beautiful Speyside area with passion and according to old traditions high-quality whiskies.
The springs at Ben Rinnes provide the water for the production of this precious drop. Powerful pot stills were designed especially for this distillery and date back to 1879. They are still in good shape and in use for the distillation process. 18 years of maturity in bourbon and sherry casks give the 18-year-old single malt wonderful notes from both different woods.
Like most Speyside whiskeys, this one is made with non-smoked malt. The long maturity period provides a wonderful complexity and makes it one of the distillery’s figureheads. During the last years, this outstanding single malt has won nine gold medals and three Pot Still Trophies at the prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition, for example double gold at the San Francisco WSC contest. Meanwhile, this precious single malt is obviously getting scarcer. It is now sold in 0.5l bottles with 43% alcohol content.
How does it taste?
Strong fruity notes from the sherry barrels reveal right from the start and are accompanied by a fine, mild sweetness. Honey and caramel, as well as light almond flavors spoil the nose. On the tongue then unfolds a bouquet of wonderful dried fruits, peaches and orange notes. In the deep warming finish, the sweet components, as well as delicate wood notes remain on the tongue for a long time. A great Speyside Scotch, which spoils the palate of connoisseurs.

Mr. Whisky –
Aroma: Sherry, Orange, Rosinen, Aprikosen….Veilchen?
