Description
Bowmore Peat Smoke Single Malt
“Bowmore Peat Smoke Single Malt” is the second bottling of the Vault Edition, launched in September 2019 and bottled at 50.1% cask strength. After the first release “Atlantic Sea Salt”, which represents the salty-maritime flavors, the “Bowmore Peat Smoke” is dedicated to the peat smoke aromas. Bowmore does not buy its malt, but runs its own maltings and also an own smoke house, creating a very characteristic peat smoke aroma for their whiskies.
How does it taste?
It comes with aromas of peat coal, but also glowing wood and a leathery character. The perfect combination with fruity aromas of sweet dates and figs, as well as a touch of mint and of course the maritime touch of the No. 1 Vault warehouse results in a unique complex whiskey that will delight any fan of smoky whisky.
About Bowmore and the Vault Edition
The four whiskies of this series are dedicated to the legendary warehouse “No. 1 Vault”, which is considered the oldest whisky warehouse in the world. It was built in 1779 and is partially below sea level. This creates a special maritime atmosphere, which also diffuses into the stored barrels and so adds special characteristic maritime, salty-mineral flavors.
Many famous and some over 50 years old Bowmore creations mature in this warehouse.
And that’s where also the Vault Editions comes from. The 4 strictly limited bottlings are each characterized by one of the 4 main flavors of Bowmore whiskies: salty / maritime, smoky, fruity and sweet. The Vault Edition is an interesting series that gracefully represents Bowmore’ s repertoire in a sophisticated whisky collection.
