Where does it come from?
With the Nc’nean distillery, Annabel Thomas built a pioneer in ecological whisky production on the coast of the Morvern peninsula in Scotland. She quit her job and raised £7.5m for her idea. The distillery went into operation in 2017 and has since proven that sustainability in whisky production is possible. She calls her team, with whom she wants to revolutionize whisky production, the “Quiet Rebels”. In the founding phase, it consisted of 14 environmentally conscious connoisseurs who set their minds to producing good Scotch sustainably. The first series of single malts, which also bears the name “Quiet Rebels”, is dedicated to this group. Each fall, a single malt is launched in the name of one of the members. It represents the favorite aromas and the person behind. Experiments with new barrels and special yeasts should give the Nc’nean its special notes.
Nc´nean Quiet Rebels Lorna Single Malt
While the first release was dedicated to company founder Annabel Thomas, this second release now bears the name of Lorna Davidson, the master distiller. She played a decisive role in the success of Nc’nean. The edition was limited to 7,560 bottles and, like the other single malts from the distillery, is not chill-filtered and not colored. Try the Nc´nean Quiet Rebels Lorna Tasting Dram and learn about this interesting and innovative Single Malt.
How does it taste?
Lorna Davidson loves sweet whiskys and so she now presents an organic certified single malt in her name that combines smooth sweetness with fruity exotic notes of banana bread, grapefruit, apricots and peach ice cream. It is matured 84% in ex-Bourbon casks and 16% in Pineau des Charentes casks. The Pineau des Charentes is a sweet and sour liqueur wine from France, a mixture of grape must and eau de vie de cognac and is appreciated as an aperitif. The innovative barrel experiment with quite high alcohol content of 48.5% has paid off and promises an interesting taste experience, even if it is still quite young at 4 years old.
