Description
Tobermory 12 years Single Malt with Manzanilla Finish
Tobermory 12 Year Old Single Malt with Manzanilla Finish is a wonderful member of the Tobermory collection. In 2016 this 6-part Tobermory series was released, which was completed by 2018. Each bottle in this series is accompanied by a perforated belt brochure with different colored paper sections. Those who had all 6 sections together could send them to the distillery and had the opportunity to win a bottle of exclusive 42-year-old Tobermory. The competition has now ended. But the Tobermory series is becoming more and more interesting for collectors, the more some of the bottles are no longer available and others are slowly being phased out. In addition to a 15-year-old, an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old single malt, there is also a 22-year-old with a port wine finish and this 12-year-old as a special edition with maturation in Manzanilla sherry barrels. The release is neither cool filtered nor colored.
Where does it come from?
Tobermory was founded in 1798. It is the only distillery on the Island of Mull and one of the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland. A visit at this distillery is a special event, not only because of the idyllic island location, but also because two different but equally seductive single malt brands are produced here:
the fruity, non-peated Tobermory and the more robust and smoky Ledaig. Centuries have passed, but the uncompromising dedication of the distillery to the old traditions in production and the connection to the location have remained to this day.
How does it taste?
Tobermory 12 Year Old Single Malt with Manzanilla Finish is a true taste experience, complex, fruity and oily, perfectly matched to the alcohol content of 46.3%. Full-bodied and creamy, it surprises with both sweet honey notes and fresh citrus notes of juicy oranges, accompanied by tingling spicy notes on the tongue that are reminiscent of ginger and chili.
The beautiful, soft finish merges into soft wooden notes, but hardly any bitterness from the tannins, but rather with fresh orange peel and dark chocolate. A slight dryness remains on the tongue with hints of delicate spices and dry berries.
