Description
MacNair’s Lum Reek Aged 21 Years Peated Blended Malt
MacNair’s Lum Reek 21 Years Peated is a blended whiskey from Glenallachie legend Billy Walker. For the Scottish blend, he married Speyside and Islay whiskey with whisky from Glenallachie. With regard to the cask selection, Walker relied on Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, French red wine oak casks and virgin oak casks. He bottled the peated Lum Reek with an alcohol content of 48.0 percent by volume. The Scotch also has a natural color and does not require chill filtration.
Where does it come from?
The Speyside, which is more synonymous with sweet, floral and light whiskies, has been married here with the heavily smoky and intense malts of Islay. In fact, it’s a bold combination. But you will find that this blend really brings together the best of both regions and has been carefully curated. A really special blend that is in no way inferior to the single malts in terms of intensity and character.
How does it taste?
The result of this carefully combined blend is a sweet, tangy and peated whiskey. Starting with a lof of peat in the nose follow great hints of dark chocolate and fudge. On the tongue you will notice some tobacco, leather cedar, peat, cocoa, vanilla and honey. The earthy smoky notes are in perfect balance with the heavy leather notes and sweet heather honey aromas. A whiskey for special moments. Take your time to discover the many flavors that this whiskey combines.
